Tense
Tense মানে হৈছে verb ৰ time বা condition — অৰ্থাৎ, কাৰ্য্যটো কেতিয়া ঘটিছে, সেইটো বুজাব।
English grammar-ত Tense অতি গুৰুত্বপূৰ্ণ কাৰণ ই আমাক কেতিয়া কিবা এটা ঘটে তাক নিৰ্ধাৰিত কৰে— past, present, আৰু future.
আমাৰ প্ৰতিদিনৰ কথোপকথনত আমি সদায় সময়ৰ ওপৰত নির্ভৰ কৰি কথা কওঁ —
“মই এতিয়া পাঠ কৰিছোঁ”, “কালি মই খেলিছিলোঁ”, “আগলৈ মই কামটো কৰিম” — এইবোৰ সকলো Tense ৰ অংশ।
Tense ৰ প্ৰধান তিনিটা ভাগ আছে:
Future Tense (ভৱিষ্যত কাল) — যেতিয়া কাৰ্য্য আগলৈ হ’ব
Example: I will play cricket.
Assamese: মই ক্ৰিকেট খেলিম।
এই তিনিটা কাল’ৰ ভিতৰত, প্ৰতিটোৰ চাৰিটা উপ-ভাগ থাকে:
• Simple/Indefinite Tense (সৰল কাল/ অনিৰ্দিষ্টকালীন)
• Continuous Tense (অবিৰত চলি থকা কাল)
• Perfect Tense (সম্পূৰ্ণ হৈ যোৱা কাল)
• Perfect Continuous Tense (সম্পূৰ্ণ অবিৰত চলি থকা কাল)
So, total tenses in English grammar are 12.
আজি যদি আপুনি Tense বুজি পায়, তেন্তে আপোনাৰ ইংৰাজী বুজা, কোৱা, লিখা — সকলো উন্নতি হ’ব।
Tense is like the backbone of English grammar — এটা “grammar অবিহনে” বাক্য-নিৰ্মাণ দুৰ্বল হৈ পৰে।

Present Tense (বৰ্তমান কাল) — যেতিয়া কাৰ্য্য এতিয়া সংঘটিত হৈছে
Example: I play cricket.
Assamese: মই ক্ৰিকেট খেলোঁ।
Past Tense (অতীত কাল) — যেতিয়া কাৰ্য্য ইতিমধ্যে শেষ বা অতীতত হৈছে
Example: I played cricket.
Assamese: মই ক্ৰিকেট খেলিছিলোঁ।
Present Indefinite Tense (Simple Present Tense)
Assamese meaning: বৰ্তমান সৰল কাল
- Where do we use it?
Present Indefinite Tense ব্যৱহাৰ কৰা হয় –
• প্ৰতিদিনৰ অভ্যাস (daily routine)
• সঁচা ঘটনা (universal truth)
• নিয়মীয়াকৈ হোৱা কাম (regular actions)
• বুজাবলৈ যে একো সময়ত কৰা হয়, কিন্তু বিশেষকৈ এতিয়া নহয় (general statements) - Rule / Structure
Positive Sentence
Subject + base form of verb (+ s/es for he/she/it/যিকোনো 3rd Person Singular Numbers)
Examples:
• I go to school. → মই স্কুললৈ যাওঁ।
• He plays football. → সিঁয়ে ফুটবল খেলে।
• They read books. → সিহঁতে কিতাপ পঢ়ে।
Negative Sentence
Subject + do/does + not + base form of verb
Examples:
• I do not go to school. → মই স্কুললৈ নেযাওঁ।
• She does not eat rice. → ছিয়ে ভাত নেখায়।
Interrogative Sentence
Do/Does + subject + base form of verb…?
Assamese: Do/Does + কৰ্ত্তা + ধাতুৰ মূল ৰূপ…?
Examples:
• Do you read every day? → আপুনি প্ৰতিদিনে পঢ়েনে?
• Does he play cricket? → সিঁয়ে কি ক্ৰিকেট খেলে? - Key Rules
